Oral and topical medications are generally covered under most insurance plans, though you may wish to contact your insurance provider to confirm this in your case. Laser treatment, however, is generally not covered by insurance.

In my opinion lasers really are the treatment of choice for facial blushing and flushing. The irregular veins which are a hallmark of rosacea need to be treated, and lasers are great for this. See Laser Treatment for more information.

Only an in-person consultation with an experienced dermatologist can determine this. Rosacea is NOT acne. Acne-like pimples can be a symptom of rosacea, but they are generally different conditions.

In my practice I often combine both laser treatment AND oral medications. To effectively manage rosacea’s symptoms you need to utilize both methods.

Q: Is rosacea red skin?

No. Some people, typically lighter-skinned people, will get much of their color from the blood vessels in the skin. This is not the same as rosacea. Rosacea is really a combination of symptoms including diffuse redness, skin blemishes, enlargement of the nose and even ocular rosacea.

It's important to visit an expert in the skin, preferably a dermatologist. Rosacea can be a complex skin disorder requiring significant understanding of the skin to treat effectively.
